Planting |
Follow the usual planting rules (hole of sufficient size for roots, soak roots overnight etc.) Because of this tree's narrow shape, the mistake of planting too close is often made. Ten feet apart will allow the leaves to get plenty of light. Grown as an avenue, or a group of two or three, these trees have enormous impact because of the contrast with all the other smaller rounded trees. They make very light demands for water, and can be planted quite close to walls, buildings or tracks. |
Aftercare |
Staking should not be necessary unless in a very exposed location.
Trimming |
Not necessary. Allow the tree to develop its own natural shape.
