Hybrid Balsam Poplars

These are supplied as one year old whips and normally range in height from 8ft-10ft, depending on the weather in the growing season and when ordered (the tallest trees are lifted first, so that all trees in an order are all of comparable height).

Balsam poplars are suitable for a wide range of uses, from being maintained as a low hedge to forming a tall windbreak.

Lombardy Poplars

Lombardy poplars are much taller and thinner. They are the trees seen lining roads in Italy and France and Italy.

They can be planted as windbreaks, but are mainly used ornamentally, either singly or in an avenue.

We do not produce these to any large extent, but usually have some available.

Cherry Laurel

These are ideal as an evergreen hedge in the garden.  They branch readily and are leafy right down to ground level.

Cherry laurel will run up to twenty or thirty feet in height if untrimmed, but is more usually maintained as a hedging plant.

Being a Mediterranean plant, it is tolerant of drought and poor soils.  It is also very shade-tolerant and can be used under an existing hedge or in shady areas when it will respond by producing large, dark leaves.
